THE BARBER CHIRURGEON

Do you feel well? No? Well then, perhaps you would like to visit the Barber Chirurgeon (that's surgeon to you & I). Not a Doctor that had learnt his profession from the pages of a Latin text, but the apprenticed hands-on man (or woman) who you would visit for a shave, haircut...or even to have an operation!

It wasn't by chance the barbers were so invaluable to the people of the 17th century. They were, after all, those with the sharpest blades. Be it to shave the hairs from your chin, or to amputate an infected limb, this would be the person to go to.
