![]() The Chepstowe Garrison is a Multi-period Living History Group based in Chepstow Castle, south Wales. Members are free to choose their own preferred time period: Characters can be of any station, from peasant to Lord. With the relevant knowledge, equipment and training you can portray anyone from a Norman stonemason to a Victorian tourist, a Welsh Archer to a member of the "Home Guard".
The group meets monthly at the castle (weather permitting): check for dates! There is also a monthly discussion & social evening, held on the first Friday of the month at the Council Chambers in Chepstow. Beginning at 7.30pm, we later move on to one of the local pubs for a more informal chat.
During the Summer season, we set up living history displays covering various aspects of life in the castle through the ages. Each member takes on the persona of a character from a particular time in the castle's history and relates to visitors accordingly (in either 1st or 3rd person). Winter sessions involve training and preparation for next season, and a presence at the castle is not guaranteed.

In addition to our regular appearances at Chepstow castle, the Garrison attends events elsewhere. A small number of our members also offer talks/lectures, which can be tailored to suit your audience. Fees are negotiated by individuals (for further information, please contact us). If you are interested in becoming part of the Garrison, please contact us, or speak to us at any event.
